New Book: Transforming - Re-Forming Tourism

A publication marking the 25th anniversary of the Ecumenical Coalition on Tourism (ECOT) is now available. (22 May 2008) ECOT

22 May 2008

As ECOT marks twenty-five years, the question whether the direction of tourism should continue unchanged assumes even greater significance today. Where are the areas that need change? This is the framework of ‘Transforming Re-Forming Tourism,’ further informed by the subtitle, ‘perspectives on justice and humanity in tourism.’ Thirty authors from around the world offer in this publication their insights reflecting their particular experience in tourism but from the aspects of the vulnerable. For tourism to realize it potential as a 21rst century means to better understanding between peoples, and peace between nations, questions need to be continually asked about the nature and implementation of modern tourism. “We need a campaigning group like ECOT to give us direction. The tourism industry needs a mosquito organization like ECOT to keep it honest. Our work has no end and no beginning”.
