Earth Day Celebration
In celebration of World Earth Day, MAP Asia will be holding a two and a half day educational camp in Bang Kang Khao Village, Trang, one of the GNF (Global Nature Fund) project sites, between the 20th and 22nd of April. This camp will involve around 20 participants, including staff from MAP, members of the community and volunteers from Suratthani Rajabhat University who will build environmental exhibition board shelters for a mangrove display at the Bang Kang Khao Primary School. Around 40 school children will be invited to take part in activities which will help them to learn more about local waste management, what can be found in mangroves and the direct and in-direct benefits that they provide. The regional education officer and the media have also been invited to see the important community education work that will be going on. At the end of the camp there will be official presentations of information boards provided by MAP and the opportunity for everyone to get involved in some mangrove planting at the mangrove restoration project site.
