I, as the MAP Asia Coordinator, would like to sincerely thank all the past volunteers for their help and support! All MAP interns who have come from many countries to assist and to learn over the years have contributed greatly in so many ways to accomplish so many tasks in our office, in the field and in schools from small to large undertakings, all of which have been important. Without their support, ideas, hard work, enthusiasm, multi-lingual languages and dedication it’s hard to image where we would be today. Volunteer Interns have brought new ideas to MAP like our very first Facebook page, the CBEMR blog, Google Earth and a common office Google calendar, things we now use daily and take for granted. Achievements range from Masters Thesis, in-depth reports, briefing papers, proposals written, donor searches, profiles developed, office forms designed, children’s art contest promoted, photos organized and so many documents have been translated into French, Spanish and other languages. Social media postings, blog posts, articles written for the MAP News and new website content and improvements have mainly all been carried-out by volunteer Interns in the MAP Asia office. Field work has involved assisting with restoration projects on the ground, mangrove and seagrass monitoring, environmental education in schools, community meetings, training workshops, assisting researchers, and field study tours.
Where ever I look I see the faces of past volunteers who have left their mark on our office through their assistance. They’ve moved on to new adventures, studies, and jobs but we want say Koop Khun Mak! (thanks so much) to all the MAP Volunteer Alumni and we hope to have many more wonderful Interns in the years to come.
