PUERTO RICO – Recently, MAP’s Alfredo Quarto and Monica Gutierrez-Quarto traveled to Puerto Rico to explore opportunities for collaboration on mangrove conservation, education, and restoration. The trip allowed them to meet with inspiring individuals and organizations working across the island to protect coastal ecosystems and highlighted opportunities to share MAP’s Community-Based Ecological Mangrove Restoration (CBEMR) approach and educational programs.

GLOBAL – Celebrate 25 Years of Mangrove Art! Educating youth about the significance of mangrove and coastal ecosystems is crucial for instigating long-term change. Through this contest, MAP aims to cultivate a lifelong appreciation and respect for the environment in the next generation of decision-makers.

PHILIPPINES – Matthew Vincent Tabilog (Tabby), Founder of Mangrove Matters PH, was one of the 8 recipients in Asia-Pacific of the prestigious Sustainability Leadership Youth A-List Awards of Eco-Business at the Capitol Theatre in Singapore in May 30, 2025 for his youth-led initiatives on mangrove conservation in the Philippines through research, science communication, educational discussions, youth and community engagement, policy-lobbying, and mangrove reforestation.
