Our 2026 Children’s Mangrove Art Calendar Is Here!

GLOBAL – We are thrilled to announce the arrival of the 2026 Children’s Mangrove Art Calendar! This calendar is a testament to the creativity and passion of young artists worldwide who are raising awareness about the importance of mangroves and the challenges they face today. For 25 years, our Children’s Mangrove Art Contest has inspired youth to explore mangroves and express their significance through art. This year, we received 512 beautiful submissions from 40 countries, each reflecting the artist’s unique journey to understanding these vital ecosystems. The selected pieces in the 2025 calendar showcase the stunning biodiversity of mangrove forests and remind us of the threats they endure.

Teaching young children the language of caring for life on our planet

USA – Earth Friends has partnered with Mangrove Action Project to provide free downloads of a mangrove teacher’s guide for children age 3-8 years. Earth Friends provides preschool through early elementary teachers with content and environmental education for early childhood professional development trainings.

Children in Nickerie informed about Mangroves

SURINAME – The Protection, Restoration, and Sustainable Use of Mangrove Forests (PRSUMF) project recently  held a Youth Awareness Session with children from Children’s Home Gaytrie. As one of UNDP’s core principles to leave no one behind, the Children’s Home Gaytrie, which provides shelter to disenfranchised children, was chosen to ensure their inclusion in educational and environmental awareness initiatives.
