MAP letter for Kulhudhuffushi discussed in a meeting of the National Coordination Body

Hello Alfredo & team,

On behalf of Save Maldives team and other activists and movements working towards environmental protection and conservation in the Maldives, we would like to extend our gratitude for your continued support to our efforts and work.

Since you have mentioned the effectiveness of letter writing in previous emails, I would like to know
that it had a huge impact. For example, our friend working as the National Coordinator for Mangroves for the Future (MFF) the Maldives reported that the letter from MAP with concern for Kulhudhuffushi mangroves was discussed in a meeting of the National Coordination Body. It was widely covered by the media and garnered attention on social media and led to subsequent discussions on these platforms as well.

We are always delighted to collaborate on issues of mutual interests and to seek solutions. Your
organization and the rest of contributors, organizations and individuals with their expertise have been of immense help to make our voices louder and has helped us immensely in numerous ways. We truly
value and appreciate these efforts and assure our commitment to continue our work together.

In that sense, we would also like to take this opportunity to provide you with an update on the ongoing work. We are now working within our team to ensure that the news of the letter published in Science makes to the local media. Over the past few days, we have had some political headlines dominating local news media. When this episode is over, we will publish the letter. We will share all news articles published in English for your reference.

In addition, we would also like to garner attention through local media about the letter of concern that
was sent to President Solih from MAP. In this regard, we would like to request your permission in
publishing this letter as we did back in 2017 with the letter relating to Kulhudhuffushi mangrove. We
would do so after we give sufficient time for the government to respond to your letter. We are also
planning to meet relevant authorities to push for conservation of the remaining part of the mangrove in Kulhudhuffushi.

Looking forward to hearing from you and if you have any ideas or suggestions, please feel free to share with us.

Thank you
Regards
Adam Isham
